Salento XV was established in 1997 to create a rugby movement from the kids up in a sinergy project alongside elementary and comprehensive schools of the region. The club works towards the formation of rugby players that will be able to join higher level teams.
Salento XV besides having a team in the Italian third division has also U18, U16, U14 and U12 representatives, the last two of which are coached by the club's President.
The focus of the organisation is on the growth of the kids as rugby players and teaching them the important values of life, regardless of the level the boys will reach in their careers.
The club logo features the coast tower which is a very characteristic symbol of the Salento area. Coast towers are scattered all along the 200 km of the Adriatic and Jonio seas costline in a way that always allows the beholder to see two of them at the same time. These towers were built in the XV century to guard the coastline from Saracens attacks. The tower is also the visual expression of the rock's strenght, representing the scrum. If you hide the higher part of the tower logo the image turns into a battle helmet representing the backs unit ready to assault with speed on the rugby pitch.
