Cascavel Rugby Clube was founded back in 2000 by a French citizen who was spending his last term of University studies in Cascavel (small town near Curitiba). Thierry, the Frenchman who started the club, brought together a group of friends to introduce them to rugby. The foreigner left but the love for rugby remained among that group of boys. After a pause in the club activity the team came back to training in 2006 conquering the fourth place in the Paranà State Championship in 2008. The association has men's, women's and youth teams. The goal of the club is making the Cascavel region a point of reference for Brazilian rugby, contributing to the growth of the game with Rugby being for the first time ever among the sports played at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The belief in rugby values and the need to bring them off the field pushed the Cascavel Rugby Clube to create a social project for Brazilian kids.
